Tellables, an app developer specializing in voice-driven storytelling, has launched recently virtual human storytellers – digital characters, which tell original stories and understand spoken language.
Amy Stapleton, CEO and founder of Tellables, is convinced that as we grow accustomed to talking to AI-generated characters, we will most probably prefer to engage with those who have the best stories to tell.
Based on the media provided on the Tellables website at the moment, it appears that the app utilizes Amazon’s existing Sumerian Hosts, customizable digital characters. The virtual storytellers can narrate scripts, using a human voice, they understand spoken language, and answer questions and commands.

What will add the virtual human storytellers to the conversational story experience, already available there? Stapleton says that it brings a new dimension: “When you see the storyteller talking and using gestures for emphasis, you almost feel like you’re engaging with a real person. It’s a more compelling experience than simply hearing a voice coming from a smart speaker.”
The virtual storytellers of Tellables will be available in both virtual and augmented reality, through Sumerian-supported headsets, smart devices, and web browsers.
